Equator – A New World View

COMING SOON: Equator: A New World View. It’s a 12-hour TV series unlike anything you have seen. Shot in a dozen countries by a dozen crews from Canada, Germany and Japan. Four years in the making. It is filled with stories about what it’s like to live in the hottest place on Earth in the age of global warming. And it is (here’s the surprise) incredibly uplifting and inspiring! (Primitive Entertainment)

We were delighted to once again collaborate with our friends at Primitive to help create the visual language of this stunning and urgent new series. Right from the start we knew that the concept of visualizing the Equator as a thread around the globe would be the key to tying together the diverse locations of the show together. A line of light, ever-circling our planet and uniting us all. We would sometimes see it from space, as it guided us from one narrative to the next. Other times we would be close enough to be flying over landscapes and see our sunlight bridging across the contours of the world like an incandescent ribbon hugging the geography.

It was a creative challenge to create this effect, while keeping it flexible to be able to be applied in the myriad breathtaking background plates. We are very proud of the look we ended up creating, and feel it is an elegant addition to a very important story.

Check it out for yourself! The show premieres Dec 27 at 8:00pm on Animal Planet.

For our friends in Europe and Japan, keep your eyes peeled for additional re-broadcasts!
