Leo’s FishHeads (March 2020)

FishHeads is a 26 x 11 science adventure series for kids that explores what is going on under the waves and around the shorelines as our hosts discover the aquatic world of Ontario, the rest of Canada and beyond. The series brings us up-close and personal with the creatures that live in, under and around the water. (fifthground.com)

We had the unique and exciting opportunity to design, create and bring to life a fully CG character host for this fun TVOKids show. Leo the catfish was a creative and technical challenge we thoroughly enjoyed taking on. We spent a lot of time in development, crafting a digital puppet that would be versatile enough to take on any of the animation requirements that came up during the quick post turnaround. We’re very proud of the systems we developed to drive her lip syncing, dynamic fin movement and the spline driven secondary motion on her whiskers, resulting in an easy and satisfying workflow.
