Electric Square is pleased to continue our partnership with Primitive Entertainment for this massively ambitious project.
In the 1960’s, futurist Buckminster Fuller coined the idea and term of Earth as a spaceship, hurtling through the void and crewed by every member of the human race.
The planet is now in the Anthropocene period, viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment. The impact of our activity on the planet’s environmental wellbeing and interconnected systems has been raising alarms for decades, and we are now approaching the Rubicon.
Filmmaker Kevin McMahon explores the concept of our fragile Ship through the words of some of the world’s preeminent thinkers, and through stunning footage filmed in Japan, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Iceland and the USA.
Electric Square has been tapped to interpret massive amounts of data for the film, and to visualize it in a way that helps communicate the urgent message of the film.
Increases in global shipping traffic, the movement of a Polar Vortex, the projected migration patterns of wildlife and vegetation due to climate change, the global prevalence of conflict in oil-rich territories. These and many other ideas knitted together into matrix of information that needs to be conveyed to the audience in an engaging way.
We are working very closely with Kevin to create a visual language to tell the story, with an elegance and sophistication that is the hallmark of a Primitive Entertainment film.
